August Book Club: Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders
Tuesday, August 12 | 6 PM | Brewer’s Lounge at Pigeon Hill
Join us on Tuesday, August 12 at 6 PM for an evening of thoughtful discussion, cold drinks, and literary exploration at the Pigeon Hill Book Club, hosted in partnership with the Muskegon Area District Library and Hackley Library. We gather every second Tuesday of the month at the Brewer’s Lounge for a laid-back and engaging conversation with fellow book lovers.
This month, we’re reading Lincoln in the Bardo by George Saunders—a bold, inventive novel that blends history, the supernatural, and emotional depth in an unforgettable way. Centered on President Abraham Lincoln’s grief after the death of his young son Willie, the story unfolds in a graveyard over the course of one surreal night, narrated by a chorus of voices both living and dead. It’s a meditation on love, loss, and the space between life and death, told with Saunders’ signature wit and compassion.
Books are available for checkout at the Norton Shores branch of the library, with a limited number also available at the Brewer’s Lounge.
Come enjoy a good book, a great beer, and a lively conversation—we’d love to have you there!
